1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and pixels. They allow a site to remember things between page loads — for example that you have already made a cookie choice — and they can also be used to measure how a site is used or to measure advertising.
This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy and describes exactly what is implemented on this website.
2. Our consent model
When you first visit, you see a banner that explains what cookies are used for and offers three equally prominent choices: Accept all, Decline and Customise.
- Nothing optional is set first. No analytics or advertising cookies are placed before you choose.
- Nothing is pre-ticked. Analytics and marketing are both off in the Customise panel until you switch them on.
- Declining is as easy as accepting. Both are single buttons, presented identically.
- No consent is assumed. Scrolling, closing the banner or navigating to another page is never treated as consent.
- No cookie wall. The whole site, including every page of content, is readable whatever you choose.
- Reversible. You can change or withdraw consent at any time through Change cookie settings in the footer.
Your choice is recorded in your own browser's local storage under the key gn_consent_v1. It contains the categories you allowed and the time you decided — nothing else.
3. Essential cookies
Always active, because the site cannot be delivered without them. They never include advertising or analytics storage.
- Session cookie (
PHPSESSID) — a standard PHP session identifier used to protect the enquiry form against cross-site submission and to show your details back to you if a field needs correcting. Expires when you close your browser. - Consent record (
gn_consent_v1, local storage) — remembers your cookie choice so you are not asked again on every page. Persists until you clear it or change your choice.
4. Analytics cookies
Off unless you switch them on. These let us see which pages are read, which formats attract interest and where visitors leave, so we can improve the site.
- Google Analytics 4 — cookies in the
_gafamily, typically expiring after up to two years. Controlled entirely by theanalytics_storagesignal. - Google Tag Manager — where used, acts as the container that loads measurement tags. It is configured so that no tag in it can fire before the matching consent is granted.
If you decline, or allow marketing only, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics measurement takes place.
5. Marketing and advertising cookies
Off unless you switch them on. These support our advertising with Google.
- Google Ads conversion measurement — records that an enquiry was submitted after an advertisement was seen or clicked.
- Google Ads remarketing — allows an advertisement for our event formats to be shown to you elsewhere.
- Ads personalisation — allows advertising to be tailored rather than generic.
These are controlled by the ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization signals together. Advertising personalisation operates only where you have consented to this category. If you decline, our advertising still runs but it is not personalised using data from your visit.
6. Google Consent Mode v2 signals
This site implements Google Consent Mode v2. Before any choice is made, the following default is sent, and it is sent before any measurement tag is able to load:
gtag('consent', 'default', {
ad_storage: 'denied',
analytics_storage: 'denied',
ad_user_data: 'denied',
ad_personalization: 'denied'
});
When you choose, an update is sent that matches your decision:
- Accept all — all four signals granted.
- Decline — all four signals remain denied.
- Customise, analytics only —
analytics_storagegranted; the three advertising signals remain denied. - Customise, marketing only —
ad_storage,ad_user_dataandad_personalizationgranted;analytics_storageremains denied.
The implementation can be verified with Google Tag Assistant: the first consent event on a clean browser state shows all four signals denied, and a consent update appears only after an explicit choice.
7. Data sharing with Google
Where Google services are used on this site and you have consented to the relevant category, some data may be shared with Google. Google explains what it does with that data at How Google uses data from sites or apps that use Google services, and describes its commitments to businesses that use its services at Google Business Data Responsibility.
8. How to change or withdraw consent
Select Change cookie settings in the footer of any page, or use the button below. The panel reopens with your current choices shown, and you can switch any optional category off again. Withdrawing consent stops further collection in that category immediately.
9. Browser-level controls
You can also manage or clear cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a setting to block them altogether. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the enquiry form from working correctly. Clearing your browser storage will also clear our record of your choice, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.
10. Your rights and complaints
Your rights of access, correction and deletion, along with retention periods, are set out in our Privacy Policy. We handle personal information in accordance with Australia's Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
