1. Definitions

"We", "us", "our" means Gatsby Nights, trading as Gatsby Nights, of 84 Penrose Promenade, Tarneit VIC 3029, Australia. "You", "the client" means the person or organisation booking the service. "Event" means the themed entertainment programme described in your quote. "Guests" means the adult attendees at your event. "Equipment" means the tables, props, cabinets, chips, cards, signage and technical items we supply.

2. What the service is

We provide the organisation of casino-themed offline events in Australia. That means staged, offline entertainment at a physical venue: casino-themed tables, professional croupiers and hosts, decorative retro slot machine props, lighting, branding and event production, delivered for a defined programme of up to 6 hours for up to 350 guests.

3. What the service is not

This is strictly offline event entertainment. We do not provide and the service does not include:

  • real-money gambling of any kind;
  • wagering, staking or betting;
  • cash prizes or any prize with monetary value provided by us;
  • online casino services, platforms, applications or websites;
  • any facility to exchange chips, credits or points for money or goods;
  • any payment facility for guests at the event.

Our additional services are: corporate casino evenings; private parties; VIP events; poker-themed dinner; roulette table entertainment; blackjack table entertainment; retro slots lounge props; mobile casino table hire; full event production; team building; professional croupiers and hosts; and branded chips, tables, cards and photo zones.

4. Symbolic chips, credits and prizes

  • Chips and credits are symbolic scoring tokens. They carry no denomination and no monetary value.
  • They are issued free of charge and in identical quantity to every adult guest.
  • They cannot be purchased, topped up, sold, transferred for value or redeemed at any point.
  • They expire at the end of the event.
  • Retro slot machine and pokies-styled cabinets supplied by us are decorative props with no payout mechanism. Money paths are physically removed and there is no hopper, payout tray or ticket printer.
  • Any prize is chosen and awarded by you. We do not provide cash prizes, and you agree not to award cash or a cash equivalent as a prize at an event we host or staff.

5. Adults-only events

All of our events are restricted to adults aged 18+. By booking you confirm that the event is for adult participants only and you accept responsibility for your guest list. Our crew may decline to issue chips or credits to, or permit participation by, any person who cannot be confirmed as an adult guest. Where a function includes guests under 18, the themed gaming floor must be held in a separate area or scheduled outside their attendance, as agreed in writing with your producer.

6. Quotes and bookings

  • We do not publish prices. Every quote is prepared individually, because pricing depends on event size, venue and chosen format.
  • A quote is an offer to supply the scope it describes, and is valid for the period stated on it.
  • A booking is formed when you accept the quote in writing and pay the booking instalment set out in it.
  • Until a booking is formed, the date and crew are not held.
  • These terms, together with your quote, form the agreement between us. Where the quote and these terms conflict, the quote prevails.

7. Payment terms

Payment terms are set out in your quote and invoice. In general:

  • a booking instalment is payable to confirm the date;
  • the balance is payable by the date stated on the invoice;
  • agreed additions made close to the event are invoiced after it;
  • amounts are payable in Australian dollars by electronic transfer unless otherwise agreed;
  • we may suspend delivery where an invoice is overdue and not under genuine dispute.

No specific amounts are published on this website. Request a tailored quote and the figures, instalments and due dates will be stated in writing.

8. Changes, cancellation and postponement

  • Changes by you. Table counts, crew numbers and programme length can usually be adjusted up to approximately ten days before the event. Reductions may affect amounts already committed to crew or freight; your producer will tell you before confirming any change.
  • Cancellation by you. Notice periods and the proportion of fees retained are stated in your quote. Amounts already spent on bespoke materials produced to your artwork are not recoverable once production has begun.
  • Postponement. Where a date moves rather than cancels, we will always try to transfer the booking to a new date subject to availability, rather than treating it as a cancellation.
  • Cancellation by us. If we cannot deliver for a reason within our control, we will offer a replacement date or refund amounts paid for the undelivered scope.

9. Client responsibilities

  • Provide accurate venue, access, timing and guest-number information.
  • Hold any permissions, licences or approvals the venue or occasion requires of you.
  • Ensure the venue is available for bump-in, the programme and strike at the agreed times.
  • Ensure guests behave lawfully and do not damage equipment or endanger crew.
  • Nominate one contact who can make decisions on the night.
  • Not use our equipment, chips or credits for wagering of any kind.

10. Venue, access and safety

We require trolley access, a level and dry floor, standard 240 V power and an agreed bump-in window. Outdoor builds are undertaken under cover only. We may decline or stop a build where access, flooring, weather or crowd conditions would make it unsafe for guests or crew, or would risk damage to equipment. Where that happens for reasons we could not reasonably have foreseen from the information you provided, fees remain payable for the scope we were ready to deliver.

11. Equipment and hire conditions

  • Equipment remains our property at all times and is supplied for the event described in the quote.
  • Equipment must not be moved, modified, dismantled or taken outside the agreed area without our agreement.
  • Fair wear is expected and is never charged.
  • Loss or damage beyond fair wear is assessed at replacement or repair cost and invoiced to you.
  • On dry hire, you are responsible for the equipment from build completion until collection.
  • Public liability documentation is available for your venue's file on request.

12. Our crew

Our producers, croupiers, hosts and build crew are adult professionals who attend in formal or venue-specified dress. They are briefed to teach rather than to pressure, and never to encourage a guest to participate who prefers not to. They may decline instructions that would breach these terms, our responsible entertainment notice, a venue rule or any law. We do not supply alcohol, catering or security.

13. Images, branding and publicity

We do not photograph your event, name you as a client or reference the event in our materials without your written permission. Where you supply artwork for branded chips, cards, felt inlays, signage or a custom cabinet front, you confirm you have the right to use it, and you accept that chips will not carry denominations or monetary values. Our own brand, site content and photography remain our property.

14. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that:

  • our liability for any claim connected with an event is limited, at our election, to re-supplying the service or refunding the fees paid for the affected scope;
  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings;
  • we are not liable for the acts or omissions of your venue, caterer, security provider or other suppliers;
  • we are not liable for loss or damage caused by a guest's own conduct.

15. Force majeure

Neither party is liable for failure or delay caused by an event beyond its reasonable control, including natural disaster, fire, flood, severe weather, epidemic or pandemic, public health direction, government order, industrial action, failure of utilities, or the loss or closure of the venue. In that situation we will work with you to transfer the booking to an alternative date where possible.

16. Complaints

Raise any concern with your producer during or immediately after the event so it can be addressed while the facts are fresh. Written complaints should go to [email protected], and we will acknowledge and respond within a reasonable period.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia and, where applicable to the place of supply or our place of business, the laws of the State of Victoria. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the courts of Australia.
